1 Textbook:

Published by People’s Education Press and for junior students of grade one.

2 Students:

Students in class 2 grade one don’t have much basic English knowledge because they are in the Township School. There are 19 girls and 17 boys in the class and most of them have great interest in learning English but they have different English levels and the ability to learn it. They like to do activities while learning English.

3 Teaching aim:

I am going to teach unit one My name’s Gina sectionB (1a---1f). By the end of the lesson, students will be able to remember how to greet people and ask their names by reviewing what they’ve learned before, master numbers 0 to 9 and know how to ask people’s phone numbers, and know how to ask people’s information politely.

The five step teaching method, the audio-lingual method.

Step 1Review 5’

Review the grammar focus of unit one by doing some exercise together.

Match the questions with the right answers.

What’s your name?

Yes, he is. / No, he isn’t. His name’s Mike.

What’s his name?

Yes, I am. / No, I’m not. I’m Gina.

What’s her name?

Alan. / I’m Alan. / My name’s Alan.

Is he Jack?

He’s Eric./His name’s Eric.

She’s Mary. / Her name’s Mary.

Put the words in order to make conversations.

Step 2Presentation 5’

Introduce numbers 0 to 9, students will learn them by repeating them. Then students will do some activities: say the odd numbers and even numbers. Make girls say odd numbers and boys even numbers and exchange.

Step 3Practice 7’

l Who has the best mind?

Review numbers by doing some math exercise. Ask some students to answer the questions and then they will answer the questions together.

l Who has the best eyes?

Show students some numbers very quickly and ask students to tell what they see together.

Step 4Presentation 5’

Show students a picture of telephone and introduce the word. Introduce to students how to ask people’s phone numbers and give their own numbers.

Step 5Practice 10’

Listen to the conversation and write the telephone number. Review how to ask people’s phone numbers and work in pairs asking and giving phone numbers. Invite two or three pairs to have the conversation in class.

Step 6Consolidate 5’

Listen to the tape twice and match the names with the phone numbers and complete the phone numbers.

Step 7Practice 3’

Ask students to make a survey in groups asking everyones phone numbers and write them down. Ask one student to give a report of their group membersphone numbers.
